The Board of Deputies of British Jews is a representative body of delegates from Jewish communal organizations that promotes and protects the interests and religious rights of the Jewish community in Britain. The Board considers current issues, discusses communal requirements, and establishes policies in order to support the development of the entire Jewish community in Britain. The Board was founded in 1760 and currently has around 300 deputies, who discuss issues pertaining to the Jewish community in Britain at regular plenary meetings.
