The Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding is an independent nongovernmental organization dedicated to encouraging the tolerant coexistence of nations, social groups and individuals. The International House for Youth Meetings, active since the beginning of the 1990s, leads educational events aimed at bringing together youth who speak different languages and hold different world views. The European Academy in Krzyżowa, directed at adults, offers training sessions and workshops for various professional and social groups. The Academy’s task is to build communities that integrate people of different world views, beliefs and political affiliations. It organizes international conferences dedicated to social, political and cultural issues of modern Europe, serving to deepen Polish-German understanding and dialogue between East and West. The third most important project is "Miejsce Pamięci" (Memorial), striving to present opposition movements and moral courage during various times in history, and to encourage reflection on historical matters. The Memorial project is intended to contribute to the creation of a common European historical identity. The website offers impressive resources to teachers and youth, and allows participation in conferences and workshops.
