Football Unites, Racism Divides is an organization established in 1995 by fans of the British sports club Sheffield United, who were concerned about increasing racist incidents during matches. In the city of Sheffield, 44% of the population is black or Asian. The goal of the initiative is to bring together football fans from diverse backgrounds. The initiative is directed at sports activists, fans, and the players themselves. Football Unites, Racism Divides acts locally, nationally and internationally. Locally it promotes and assists football coaches from minority groups, organizes antiracist events in schools, and supports ethnic sport clubs. Nationally and internationally it works with other similar organizations and supports campaigns to combat racism in sports. The organization has a huge collection of magazines, books and videos, and an archive of fanzines published by football fans. In addition, teaching packs(materially) are available electronically.
