Association for Integration of Refugees and Migrants (AIRM)
AIRM was founded on July 22, 2004. It is involved in the cultural and social integration of refugees and migrants in Bulgaria. The founders are social workers, lawyers, journalists, teachers, students and others. The organization’s primary goals are to counteract discrimination against refugees and migrants in Bulgaria and to work for equal rights for them, by disseminating international experience and examples of best practice in social work with refugees and migrants, their adaptation and integration. AIRM promotes international and European standards in work with refugees and migrants, and cooperation in the development of integrative strategies. It highlights the problems of refugees and arranges assistance for them. The organization is also involved in training staff for this kind of social work. AIRM acts in conjunction with governmental and other nongovernmental organizations.
