The Foundation fulfills its statutory goals jointly with the Jewish Community of £ód¼, the Organization of Former Residents of £ód¼ in Israel, and the £ód¼ City Office. It cooperates with other Polish and foreign institutions, including the YIVO Institute in New York, Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw. Its main tasks include preserving the Jewish cemetery on Bracka Street, restoring and perpetuating the memory of the £ód¼ Jewish community and its significant contribution to the city’s history and culture, and educating the public about the Holocaust and the history of the £ód¼ ghetto. The Jewish cemetery is undergoing restoration work, and documentation on the persons interred there is being gathered. The Foundation works with institutions such as archives, museums, publishers, schools and cultural centers. It issues publications, and it initiates and supports cultural and educational projects that popularize the history of the £ód¼ Jews.
