Irish Traveller Movement
Irish Traveller Movement is a national network of about 80 organizations and individuals from all over Ireland, cooperating with similar institutions in Great Britain. The ITM operates under a system of regional structures. The ITM website has reports and statistics showing the scandalous conditions in which Travellers live in Ireland and pointing out gaps in the education system. There are reports on social and employment inequalities between Travellers and local communities. The ITM cooperates with the Platform Against Racism, the Equality Authority and other organizations, with links to them at the website, and actively opposes individual, structural and institutional racism. The ITM initiates and supports efforts for intercultural education for both children and adults, and for tolerance of diversity. The ITM works with the Education Ministry and academics through the National Advisory Committee on Traveller Education.
