International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA)
The International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA), in existence since 1978, has more than 400 member organizations from every continent and about 90 countries. It maintains that it is "the only international non-profit and non-governmental community-based federation focussed on presenting discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation as a global issue." ILGA combats pedophilia and works for compliance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The organization makes public opinion and governments aware of manifestations of discrimination and intolerance, supports programs and protests, informs and educates, and cooperates with other organizations and the media. The website has links to ILGA organizations and others that work with ILGA, and also a library of articles on human rights, the law, tolerance, HIV/AIDS and other subjects.
