KVINDERÅDET (The Women's Council in Denmark)
In 2004, two national campaigns were organized at the initiative of Kvinderådet. One was directed to ethnic minority women and was aimed at conveying knowledge about the rights of women in Denmark and helping immigrant women solve problems connected with cultural differences. For this a special information center was opened to serve women with legal advice. The second campaign was aimed at promoting dialogue between Danes and ethnic minority women. Talks, conferences, courses and practical workshops for women were organized in many Danish cities. One priority was to increase the participation of immigrant women in politics, society and the workplace. Kvinderådet works for the broadest possible integration between Danes and immigrants, which is why it encourages ethnic minority women to become involved in forming organizations that can serve as a platform for dialogue and joint resolution of problems.
