ACCORD is an African nongovernmental (civil society) conflict management organization, recognized by the United Nations as a model for conflict prevention and transformation in Africa. Its main goal is to promote feasible African solutions to the different conflicts around the continent ("African solutions to African challenges"). It does this through a series of activities within ACCORD programs and courses. It offers training in conflict management and resolution, and carries out programs and projects in the field of peace and security, most of which involve research, advocacy and policy development. ACCORD has different publications concerning current issues in Africa such as Conflict Trends and African Journal on Conflict Resolution. It cooperates with other international organizations. Its vision of the African continent is of one free of violence and economic dependence, a place where resolution of conflicts leads to significant economic achievements and a better life for all its people.
